Riders of the Meeting Grittenham and Cusses Gorse

Portsmouth MX Club are once again privileged to support MXGP rider Shaun Simpson this year, and with Shaun’s support, the club is continuing to honour riders who have done brilliantly at their race meetings.

The club is proud to announce the first two winners of the Shaun Simpson Rider of the Meeting award – Ryan Taylor and Thomas Casbeard.

Ryan certainly started stamping his mark on the Auto class in 2018, and has definitely been one to watch. He couldn’t have started his year off any better by going out and winning his first race of the season at Swanmore in February, sure there will be plenty more to come. Unfortunately he sustained a broken thumb so was unable to collect his award until Sunday at Cusses Gorse.

The second rider is Rookies rider Thomas Casbeard.  Thomas got his name on the plaque following an outstanding performance at Grittenham a couple of weeks ago. It was a privilege to watch such an outstanding rider work his way through the field in each moto to grab each race win, not putting a wheel wrong all day, and his speed on the track was something to be admired. A lovely lad too, with a great family who are dedicated to Thomas 100%, hopefully this award will inspire him to continue to race like that all season.

Shaun & Kay (from PMXC) have sorted out an extra treat for the winners this year, so both riders were not only presented with a SS24 plaque, SS24 stickers, headwear liners by Drybrow, t-shirt, all kindly donated by Shaun, plus a voucher & gym bag from Ironsight Paintball courtesy of Paul Dunford, they also received a signed poster & glove framed picture.

Well done boys!!
